Needs Assessment & Gaps Analysis
The Needs Assessment Gaps Analysis (NAGA) project is an approach used by CEP-Va to guide VDSS and the state in their effort to implement an optimal array of evidence-based services for families in Virginia’s Family First Prevention Plan. NAGA differs from typical needs assessments in that it is designed as an ongoing process of data collection and verification, serving both to fulfill specific VDSS requests (e.g., expand services) and to detect contextual barriers known to undermine such large-scale efforts. CEP-Va constructed a developmental sequence of investigatory phases, where each phase provides data to inform the next. Annual reports documenting NAGA findings:
EBP Practitioner Registry and EBP Finder
CEP-Va partnered with SingleStone LLC to build and maintain the EBP Practitioner Registry, the authoritative source for Virginia practitioners trained and certified in a particular EBP. Practitioners trained in one or more EBPs can use the website to check their information and request updates. The registry currently includes the following EBPs: Brief Strategic Family Therapy, Family Check-Up, Functional Family Therapy, Multisystemic Therapy, and High Fidelity Wraparound. Each year, new EBPs are added to the Registry.
CEP-Va and SingleStone LLC also developed the EBP Finder, a tool to help service coordinators and others find EBPs in their community. Designed for and built with input from professionals who plan and coordinate services, the website is filterable by EBP and/or locality. The Finder is maintained quarterly and represents an authoritative source for EBPs in available in Virginia. Each year, new EBPs are added to the site.

Family First Fidelity Monitoring
The Family First Prevention Services Act was designed to help states expand access to evidence-based programs with an aim to keep families together and reduce the rate of child entry into foster care. The law requires that states monitor fidelity for all EBPs in their prevention plan. Through partnerships with EBP purveyors and state agencies, CEP-Va provides quarterly fidelity reports for all EBPs in the plan.
