Rafaella Sale, PhD
Dr. Rafaella Sale, PhD, is the Associate Director of the Center for Evidence-based Partnerships in Virginia. She is also an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department at Virginia Commonwealth University. In 2021, Dr. Sale joined the Center as its first postdoctoral research scientist after graduating from the University of Texas at Austin. In 2020, she also completed an APA-accredited internship, or clinical rotation, in pediatric neuropsychology at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior.
Dr. Sale’s doctoral degree is in school psychology, an area focused on measurement of learning and development in children. Research areas include supervision for real world clinicians and the translation of evidence to practice for interlocking systems of care. Prior to returning to graduate school, Dr. Sale practiced as a licensed masters-level clinician in the rural Appalachian region of North Carolina. There, she was part of a team of grant-funded researchers and community leaders to implement school mental health programming focused on crisis response.
